A Seller's Guide to Staging

Updated: Jul 2, 2019

Before you put your home on the market, you want to make sure it is cleaned, staged, and ready to sell. Time invested to stage your home will help it stand out from competitors as a better value and command a higher price, typically resulting in a faster sale. Another factor to consider when it comes to selling your home is professional photography. Professional real estate photographers know how to show off a homes unique features and make it look great online, so the chances of selling at a higher price are much greater than if you were to use your smart phone or personal camera. We've put together an in-depth list of things to keep in mind when preparing your home to sell.

1. Exterior

Your exterior is the first thing buyers see when they pull up to your home. Here are some effective ways to boost your curb appeal:

The kitchen is the hub of a home. A lot of time is spent in the kitchen and buyers want to see a clean space that is ready for them to cook their first big meal in their new home.

  • Straighten chairs

  • Remove highchairs/booster seats

  • Add a simple centerpiece

The family room is another popular room in the house so it is so important to make this space inviting. The key is for this space to be cozy, but not busy.

  • De-clutter fireplace mantle

  • Arrange furniture pillows

  • Remove kid's toys

  • Turn on all lights

  • Clear nightstands of personal items

  • Remove phone/computer charging cables
